1. FK Svidník, close to another big surprise on the road at Poprad

Saturday, 30 April 2022, 4 pm local time (2 pm UTC), NTC Poprad Stadium, Poprad, Slovakia, 23rd round of the Slovak Third League - East Group (3. Liga - Východ).

1. FK Svidník continue their run of good results with a goalless draw away at Poprad, which is in itself quite a surprise, given that the host team is in the upper half of the table and have been relegated from the Second League a year ago. It is even more surprising that the visitors were in fact closer to winning this game than their opponents.

In the first half, not much happened, at least in the first 25 minutes. FK Poprad tried to get a hold of the game, but the visitors managed to maintain a certain balance, and to keep the danger away. However, this changed for the last 20 minutes of the first half, when FK Poprad succeeded to get through the Svidník defensive lines and had several good opportunities, but their attackers either missed the target or were blocked by goalkeeper Milan Vinclér, who had another great game, keeping a clean sheet for Svidník.

After the break, probably everyone expected Poprad to intensify their charges, to increase the pressure. Nevertheless, exactly the opposite happened: the visitors had a number of great chances, the best in the game, including a shot in the crossbar (51'), a shot saved in a one on one situation with the goalkeeper (56') and another shot in the post (58'), all from excellent positions. 1. FK Svidník did not score, and this might have costed them, because FK Poprad regained a central control of the match towards the end of the game, when the situation was quite balanced, both teams trying to get the decisive winning goal.

On a swift counterattack of the home side, Ján Ducár had to make a tactical foul on the leading Poprad attacker, for which he was sent off (83'), despite protests, because the action happened quite far from the Svidník box.

As a result, FK Poprad dominated the final minutes of the match, but were unable to take any profit out of the situation and the final score remained 0-0.
