Disastrous result for Fayoum SC, which are now in deeper trouble, after they have been defeated 2-1 by newly-promoted Merkaz Shabab Samasta. Hard to believe, yet true, Fayoum are getting every day nearer the relegation area, and the distance has been cut to only four points. They won a single game in the last ten, and the problems are mounting, from disciplinary issues (as in the previous game, away at Eastern Company) to bad results.
This time, everything went rather smoothly in the beginning. Fayoum took the lead by Karim Al Shafei, who transformed a penalty: 1-0 (20'). However, the visitors did not surrender, and gradually took over the control of the game, attacking more and more dangerously.
Samasta were unable to equalize in the first half, but they did so right after the beginning of the second half, by means of Youssef Jara: 1-1 (47'). Fayoum struggled to get back in the game, and they even scored, by Anas Shendy, but the referee cancelled the goal for a supposed use of the hand by the goalscorer. The replays are not convincing in this respect, but VAR is yet to be implemented in the Egyptian Second Division.
In the last minutes of the match, Mohamed Abdel Sami hit the target: 1-2 (88'), and brought an unexpected win for Merkaz Shabab Samasta, which are now just above the relegation line, and only three points below Fayoum in the table.
