First win for Real Garcilaso in the Peruvian Clausura: 1-0 over Carlos A. Mannucci

Friday, the 16th of August 2019, 15:00 local time (20:00 UTC), Inca Garcilaso de la Vega Stadium, Cuzco, Peru, the third round of Peruvian Clausura.
The first match in the third round of the Peruvian Liga 1 - Clausura was played in Cuzco involving two teams that needed very much the points. Despite a good run in the Copa Bicentenario, Real Garcilaso has lost both previous games in the Clausura and are farther from their dream of becoming national champions. On the other hand, Carlos A. Mannucci are fighting hard to avoid relegation, so any point is more than welcomed.
The game was very similar to the one against Pirata FC in the first round of Clausura; the main difference was that Real Garcilaso eventually scored and won. The home side clearly dominated the entire match and had 78% possession at half time and probably not much less at the end.
In the first half, several crosses in the area could have been converted into goals by the likes of Carando, Lecaros or Archimbaud, but they either missed the target or were denied by a goalkeeper, Heredia, in tremendous shape.

In the second half, head coach Reynoso risked everything on the attack, sending Ramua and Ormeno on, replacing Robles and Lecaros. The series of attacks of Real Garcilaso continued and this persistence eventually paid off: a cross by Ramua from the right found Carando in the area and his header finally reached the net: 1-0 (74').
The home side seemed perfectly happy with this result while Carlos A. Mannucci were unable to create any goal chances in the final minutes of the game.
Real Garcilaso: Ferreyra - Rivas, Robles (Ramua 55'), Quina, Joao Ortiz - Miguez, Archimbaud - Souza, Nunez (Goyoneche 81'), Lecaros (Ormeno 46') - Carando. Head coach: Juan Reynoso.
Carlos Mannucci: Heredia - A. Lopez, Lencinas, Pena, Moreno (Rely Fernandez 78') - Vargas, Alvarez, Manicero, Villamarin (Lagos 53') - Jose Carlos Fernandez, Noronha (Fuentes 55'). Head coach: Pablo Peirano.
Referee: Gerson Huiman.
Yellow cards: Joao Ortiz 79', Ramua 86' - A. Lopez 34'.
Head coach Juan Reynoso succeeded to find the best starting XI, with just a single surprise: Rivas as right back instead of Arismendi. At half time, Lecaros was substituted by Ormeno, but the young Mexican did not find his pace and the way to the goal as expected. Several players are injured and could not be used, Rengifo, Guerrero and Cossio among them. Next week, Real Garcilaso will play again in Arequipa against FBC Melgar, this time in the fourth round of Clausura.
This was the last match played by Real Garcilaso at Inca Garcilaso de la Vega Stadium as their home ground. The Peruvian Football Federation decided to prohibit the use of this stadium until the pitch is in good condition. Therefore, temporarily, Real Garcilaso will play their home games at Tupac Amaru Stadium in Sicuani.
