Leaders SK Odeva Lipany were big favourites before the game, as they have already proved an excellent shape so far this season and they look determined to go back to the 2. Liga, from where they were relegated at the end of the last season. They needed to win in order to remain at the top position in the table. On the other hand, 1. FK Svidnik had nothing to lose and they already had a few irregular results, especially away, where they impressed positively by drawing 2-2 at Tatran Presov or winning 2-1 at MFK Snina, but they also lost 4-0 at Mladost Kalsa or 1-0 at last classified Slovan Giraltovce (the only success of Giraltovce team so far).
As expected, the game was dominated by the home side. The visitors defended very well but could not stop Slobodan Andric from scoring the only goal of the match right before half time: 1-0 (44').
In the second half, SK Odeva Lipany tried to double their advantage without result. The Svidnik team also thought about equalizing but their mission became almost impossible after they remained in ten men, because Jakub Bialoncik was sent off (62'). Despite the numerical advantage, the home side were unable to score more goals while the visitors had to be content with an honourable 1-0 defeat at the leaders' ground.
