Javier Arce has been confirmed as the head coach of Real Garcilaso in 2020, but all other news are bad

The management of Real Garcilaso confirmed Javier Arce as the "new" head coach of the team for 2020. He was actually manager of the team since September 2019, when former head coach Juan Reynoso left for Mexico's Puebla. However, because the Peruvian football regulations prohibit someone to be head coach of two different teams at the same level during the same season, Javier Arce could not be officially the head coach of Real Garcilaso in 2019, and one of his assistants, Juan Chumpitaz, was instead on the bench and officially credited as the head coach. Javier Arce previously managed Deportivo Binacional, with which he won the 2019 Apertura title in the Peruvian First Division, giving them the chance to qualify for the national play-offs and become national champions.

Javier Arce's work at Real Garcilaso has been highly praised during the second part of 2019 Clausura, as the team classified seventh in the aggregate table and eventually qualified for the next year Copa Sudamericana.
However, all the other news coming from Real Garcilaso, directly or indirectly, are not so good.
First of all, for unclear reasons, the club management seem quite decided to change the name of the club, taking into account so-called claims from the fans. The club has been under pressure lately due to the possibility that both other traditional football clubs in Cusco, Cienciano and Deportivo Garcilaso, would promote to the Peruvian First Division. Cienciano are the main local rivals and their promotion to Liga 1, after four years in the Second Division, is clearly not good news, as fierce rivalry would grow again. It is possible that for this reason Real Garcilaso has reached an agreement with the authorities that they would play the 2020 home games at the Tupac Amaru Stadium in Sicuani, many kilometers away from Cusco!
Deportivo Garcilaso did not promote, as they were eliminated by Llacuabamba in the quarter-finals of Copa Peru. However, a long-lasting dispute regarding the name "Garcilaso" has reached a climax and the directors of Real Garcilaso would like to change the name of the club, perhaps for this reason. The reactions of Real Garcilaso fans are mixed, but a large majority are against this change. The question is if the club management would take into account the majority or just those few fans who would agree with the change?
Another bad news is that it looks like the club management is more interested in the change of the name than in contracting players for the upcoming season. While all other teams started their transfer campaigns, Real Garcilaso did not renovate any contracts and no new players have been announced, very much unlike other seasons. Nevertheless, many important players have already left the team, and almost the entire main squad is now out, as other teams have proudly announced. Position by position:
Goalkeeper: Daniel Ferreyra has transferred to local rivals Cienciano.
Right back: Jesús Arismendi has transferred to Carlos A. Mannucci.
Centre-backs: all centre-backs have left - José Cánova to Carlos A. Mannucci, Andrés Robles to Agua Santa (Brasil), Minzún Quina to Ayacucho FC, Horacio Benincasa to Carlos A. Mannucci.
Left-back: Joao Ortiz has joined Sport Boys.
Defensive midfield: Jean-Pierre Archimbaud announced that he is about to leave Real Garcilaso, not mentioning his destination.
Winger: Cristian Souza has left for Pachuca (Mexico).
Offensive midfield: Javier Núnez has transferred to Carlos A. Mannucci, Gino Guerrero has left (destination yet unknown).
So, no less than 11 players, many of them used in the starting XI in 2019, have already left, and it is obvious that the club will need to bring replacements, so there will be a new "full" transfer period, with very few players remaining from the previous season.
