Leaders National Bank of Egypt won 1-0 over Fayoum in the 14th round of the Egyptian Second Division - Group A

Sunday, the 9th of February 2020, 14:30 local time (12:30 UTC), National Bank of Egypt Stadium, Agouza (Giza, Cairo), the 14th round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A.

National Bank of Egypt have increased their lead on Sunday, with a 1-0 win over Fayoum, by means of a late goal by penalty, transformed by Amr Ezzat in the 84th minute. It was a difficult game for the Group A leaders, as Fayoum is fighting to avoid relegation. The visitors defended well throughout the game, and launched dangerous counterattacks, but in the end the National Bank of Egypt succeeded to secure the much needed three points.

The surprising draw between Aluminium and Telephonat Beni Suef left the National Bank of Egypt alone on the top spot, while Aluminium are now two points behind. Beni Suef are now three points behind, as they also drew away at Al-Minya.

The situation in the relegation area is also complicated. Fayoum has not scored a single goal since the beginning of 2020, and desperately need to win the next game home over bottom-classified Tahta, who may be the first mathematically relegated team.
