1. FK Svidník - 1. FC Tatran Prešov 1-8 in the second matchday of the Slovak Third League - East

Wednesday, 4 August 2021, 4:30 pm local time (2:30 pm UTC), Mestský futbalový štadión, Svidník, Slovakia, 2nd matchday of the Slovak Third League - East (3. Liga - Východ).

The very young team of Svidník continue their adventure in the new season of the Third League, playing against the giants, 1. FC Tatran Prešov, the main favourites for the first place and promotion to the Second League. After a 12-0 loss away at Lipany, it was obvious that the result was not going to be much different, and an 8-1 loss says everything about the game.

It was already 5-0 at half time, due to goals scored by Jozef Dolný - twice (15' and 25'), Martin Pribula (26'), Michal Kral'ovič (28') and Kristián Hirka (31').

In the second half, the visitors scored less, only three times, by the same Jozef Dolný (59' - hat-trick), Adam Košc (own goal, 71') and Oliver Špilár (77'). It was 8-0, but right before the end of the match, Aleksey Shliakhov scored the ”goal of honour” for 1. FK Svidník (90'), establishing the final result, 1-8.

1. FK Svidník were again crushed, but one can also finds some positive changes, compared to the previous game. First, they succeeded to remain in 11 players until the end of the game, so no more red cards. Secondly, they only received 8 goals instead of 12. And third, they scored one goal, which was not the case in Lipany.

Svidník: Mulík (Janošík 46') - Košč (Volohda 75'), Blanár (P. Kamenický 39', M. Kamenický 66'), Makara, Guman, Shliakhov, Daňo, Paňko, D. Čabala, Oravec, Haňak. Manager: Alexander Tyč.

Prešov: Buchta - Jarzebak, Grejták, Pol'ák, S. Kral'ovič, Sabolčík, Pribula (Špilár 59'), Ivanecký (Škrepták), M. Kral'ovič (Olejár 46'), Dolný (Kapral' 59'), Hirka (Rečičár 46'). Manager: Stanislav Šesták.

Referee: Dávid Gorel.

Yellow card: Rafael Guman (Svidník) 11'.

The good news for Svidník is that they have already faced the toughest opponents, and the future opponents would be weaker. The bad news is that they are last in the classification and that they still have a few very difficult matches ahead. The first of them would be Sunday morning away at Slávia TU Košice, another strong team in this group (though not at the same level as Prešov or Lipany).

1. FC Tatran Prešov are already top of the table and it would be a surprise if they ever leave that top spot this season.
