Polish manager Lech Czaja is on the right track with 1. FK Svidník, despite 1-0 defeat away at Kalša

Sunday, 22 August 2021, 4 pm local time (2 pm UTC), TJ Mladost' Stadium, Kalša, Slovakia, 5th matchday of the Slovak Third League - East Group (3. Liga - Východ).

TJ Mladost' Kalša were big favourites to win the game against last classified 1. FK Svidník, but they had some troubles to clinch a 1-0 win. The arrival of the new Polish manager at Svidník, Lech Czaja, has certainly had an impact on the team, and this was already visible a week ago, in the 2-1 loss at home against now leaders MFK Vranov nad Topl'ou.

The home team started better and they succeeded to score the only goal of the match by means of Peter Krakovský in the 31st minute. 1. FK Svidník played well and balanced the game, even pressuring for an equalizer in the second half.

Lech Czaja also brought a couple of Polish players. Besides Mateusz Wszola, who has already played for 1. FK Svidník in the previous matches, two other players made their debut: Kamil Kasperkowicz and Daniel Jucha. They add very well to the existing group of young local players and the Russian Aleksei Shliakhov.

Kalša: E. Kolbas - Krakovský, Šul'ák, Šalagovič, Zeher (Patkanóci 71'), Vojtovič, Seman, Kolek (Sitár 71'), J. Kolbas, Majerník (Capík 81'), Novák. Manager:

Svidník: Dzupina - Kasperkowicz, Makara, Guman, Jucha, Shliakhov, Wszola (Daňo 62'), D. Čabala, Oravec, Haňak (T. Čabala 46'), Kubis. Manager: Lech Czaja (officially, Alexander Tyč).

Referee: Peter Zidišin.

Yellow cards: Vojtovič 28', Majerník 56', Kolek 60' (all from Kalša).

Next Sunday, 1. FK Svidník will face their rivals, Tesla Stropkov, at home. The match finds the two teams at different ends of the classification: 1. FK Svidník are last, but ready to get out of the relegation area, while Tesla Stropkov are unexpectedly in second place, only separated by goal difference from the top position of MFK Vranov nad Topl'ou. However, it is very likely that all these differences will be erased in the field.
