Fayoum SC changed the manager after four winless matches, and new manager Khaled Eino started with a much desired win, away at Asyut Cement, a newly-promoted team which had a good start of the season.
The home side started well, with a great individual action that was finished with a good shot, that hit the side post. Immediately after, the visitors took the lead after a corner. The Asyut defenders failed to clear the ball from their own box, one of the Fayoum attackers succeeded to steal the ball and cross for El Saeed Kamal to head it in from close range: 0-1 (8').
The home side looked for an equalizer, but Fayoum defended well, until stoppage time in the first half, when Asyut Cement levelled the score, also after a corner. This time, Fayoum defenders were unable to clear, and Ajao Akeem Alabi took profit, controlling the ball and shooting from the center of the box: 1-1 (45'+3').
In the second half, the points could go either way, as both teams had opportunities to score the winning goal. Asyut Cement enjoyed more ball possession, but the visitors replied on very fast counterattacks, which brought danger to the home side.
Such a counterattack proved eventually to be decisive, as Mostafa Afroto finished precisely on one on one with the goalkeeper: 1-2 (90').
The home side still had the opportunity to equalize in stoppage time, but Fayoum goalkeeper and defense made a great job and kept the result in their advantage.

In the next round, Fayoum will face El Minya on their own ground on Friday, 18 November 2022.
