Fayoum SC failed to win: Ahmed Abdel-Ghani sacked, Khaled Eino is the new manager

Fayoum SC - Telephonat Beni Suef 1-1 (0-0)

Ali El-Din Sakhr Al Hawari 57' - Mohamed Khalil 90'+2'.

Tuesday, 1 November 2022, 2:30 pm local time (12:30 pm UTC), Alassiouty Sport Resort, Fayoum, Egypt, the 4th round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A.

Fayoum SC and Telephonat Beni Suef started poorly the new season, neither of them being able to win a single match so far. The situation extended after the fourth round, as they drew 1-1, after a rather poor performance from both teams.

Because both teams use Alassiouty Sport Resort as their home ground, the relative advantage provided by the host status did not exist in the case of Fayoum, the official hosts. This was also visible in the field, where the match was balanced, with very few goal opportunities. The two teams alternated periods of control and domination in the field.

Fayoum seemed to have had more ball possession, but Telephonat were more dangerous on swift counterattacks. They had a big chance in the 40th minute, but missed.

In the second half, the situation did not change. Telephonat missed another opportunity in the beginning of the second ahlf, but then Fayoum made three changes in the 56th minute. One of those who just came in, Ali El-Din Sakhr Al Hawari, scored almost immediately, with a beautifully placed header from inside the box, after a cross from the right side: 1-0 (57').

Just like in their previous game, away at Al Nasr Lel Taa'den, Fayoum SC players made a step back, trying to defend this narrow advantage. Telephonat Beni Suef, having nothing to lose, attacked almost continuously, and their pressure mounted as the end of the game was approaching.

In stoppage time, one disputed ball at the edge of Fayoum box was headed to Mohamed Khalil, all alone on the right side. He entered the box and his shot went in between the legs of the goalkeeper: 1-1 (90'+2').

It turns out that nothing have been learned by Fayoum staff and players from their previous game, away at Al Nasr Lel Taa'den. They always seem to be more than happy with a narrow win, instead of looking out for opportunities to score more goals and to have a more relaxed end of the game. And sometimes you are punished, as it happened for Fayoum for two games in a row.

Fayoum staff was punished even more, as manager Ahmed Abdel-Ghani (together with all the staff related to him) was sacked immediately after the match. In the meantime, a new managerial team was appointed. Khaled Eino is the new Fayoum manager, and he will be helped by Essam Khairallah (general coach), Wael Mostafa (assistant coach) and Ahmed Gomaa (goalkeepers' coach).

Fayoum: Ahmed Kandil - Muhammad Ashraf (Islam Lamouna 56'), El Sayed Kamal, Islam Ramadan, Mohamed Arafat - John Cissé, Mahmoud Sami (Raymond Jamil 90'+3') - Muhammad Tariq (El Sayed Lotfy 56'), John Jamil (Mahmoud Helmy 87'), Afroto (Ali El-Din Sakhr Al Hawari 56') - Mohamed Jamal "Bibo". Manager: Ahmed Abdel-Ghani.
