Tabaré Silva is out after Real Garcilaso - Deportivo Municipal 3-3

On Wednesday evening, the 3rd of October, Real Garcilaso played on its home ground in Cusco against Deportivo Municipal. There were quite high hopes for a home win after three rounds which saw Real Garcilaso going down in the table after one draw at home and two losses. Nevertheless, the reality in the field was quite different and actually Deportivo Municipal led almost all the time and might be unhappy with the draw, given the fact that Real Garcilaso equalized in the last minute.
Head coach Tabaré Silva insisted in introducing the newcomers, goalkeeper Caceda and defender Canova, in the starting line-up: Caceda - Arismendi, Canova, Dulanto, Cossio - Aucca, Archimbaud - Vidales, Ramua, Santillan - Rengifo.
Just like in the previous games, Real Garcilaso had to come from behind after receiving goals due to defending errors. In the 11th minute, a long range shot from a free kick by Pier Larrauri proved too difficult for Caceda: 0-1. The home team reacted quick and equalized in the 14th minute by Gustavo Dulanto, who headed into the net after a long-lasting attack in the area: 1-1. Deportivo Municipal took the lead again in the 35th minute by the same Pier Larrauri, by penalty: 1-2. A penalty was also given to the home side and Alfredo Ramua equalized in the 39th minute: 2-2. However, just two minutes afterwards, a blast from Gutierrez from outside the area ended in the net and gave the lead again to Deportivo Municipal just before half-time: 2-3.
In the second half, Real Garcilaso dominated clearly but seemed unable to break the opposite defense. In the 90th minute, Alfredo Ramua executed a corner from the right side and Arismendi, unmarked, headed from close range: 3-3.
This goal gave one point to Real Garcilaso but this is not really enough and the team is unexpectedly in mid-table and quite far from the leading positions in the Clausura, the last tournament of the year in Peruvian Primera Division. There are only 8 matches to be played before the end of the season and only a miracle would give Real Garcilaso the chance to enter the decisive play-off, either as the winners of Clausura or as the best classified team in the aggregate table - except for Sporting Cristal and the winners of Clausura.
The break caused by the international calendar and the matches of national teams gave time for reflection to the management of Real Garcilaso and the coaching staff who eventually reached an agreement to part ways, therefore the club announced the end of the contract for head coach Tabaré Silva and his teammates - assistant coach Gaston Linares and physical trainer Gabriel Souza, who were in charge of the team since March 2018.

Tabaré Silva is no longer the manager of Real Garcilaso

The new head coach will be announced soon.
