Fayoum SC unable to win again, 0-0 against Qena

Saturday, the 16th of January 2021, 2.30 pm local time (12.30 UTC), Alassiouty Sport Resort, Fayoum, Egypt, the 9th round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A.
Four wins in a row, then two games at home concluded with a defeat and a goalless draw, and Fayoum are once again closer to relegation than the Premier League, in eighth position. The match against Beni Suef was considered a difficult one, and the 1-0 defeat was only surprising given the circumstances, but Qena are newly-promoted and Fayoum started the game as favorites.
However, they were unable to score and therefore to win a match, which looked pretty easy. Qena had some chances on the counterattack, but concentrated mainly on defending. However, the final result is not so much because of the good Qena defense, but rather due to the lack of concentration which Fayoum strikers showed in attack, especially in one on one situation against Qena goalkeeper, Mahmoud Sedik, who was the man of the match.

Qena goalkeeper, Mahmoud Sedik (in yellow), defended another Fayoum shot, this time by Adham Hassan (in red). Source: Fayoum SC Facebook page.

Anas Shendy, Ahmed Hassan, Adham Hassan, Ahmed Blidi and other Fayoum strikers missed important opportunities. More than that, all three changes made by manager Ahmed Bakri were forced by injuries, as Ahmed Hassan, Hussein Khaled and Ahmed Saad were injured and had to be substituted, and therefore Fayoum's overall offensive power decreased. This added to a longer list of players either suspended or injured before the game.
Fayoum: Mostafa Gaber "Dida" - Ahmed Saad (69' Mostafa Ahmed "Carlos"), Mahmoud Al Husseini, Jaber Jaber, Ahmed Abd Elhakim - Abdullah Rashed, Karim Al Shafei, Hussein Khaled (62' Ahmed Abdel Baqi) - Adham Hassan, Anas Muhammad "Shendy", Ahmed Hassan (25' Ahmed Blidi). Manager: Ahmed Bakri.
The match was broadcasted on the Facebook page of Alassiouty Sport Resort.
In the next round, Fayoum will play away at Media, a very difficult game against one of the best teams in the group, while Qena will have an equally difficult task at home against leaders Eastern Company.
