Fayoum SC lost at penalties against Telephonat Beni Suef and is out of the Egyptian FA Cup

In the third preliminary round of the Egyptian FA Cup, Fayoum SC has been drawn against fellow Second Division Group A team, Telephonat Beni Suef. This was the first round which involved Second Division teams.
The match was played Tuesday, 25 September, at Alassiouti Sports Complex in Asyut, where Fayoum uses as home ground during the improvement works at Fayoum Stadium.
Telephonat Beni Suef had an early advantage as Mustafa Abdel Rahim scored for 0-1. Fayoum was able to equalize quickly by Badr Ibrahim. However, the away team took the lead right before half time by a goal scored by Kashri.
Fayoum dominated the second half and eventually succeeded in equalizing once again by Ziauddin Belail in the 80th minute, establishing the final score: 2-2.
The winner had to be decided by penalty shootouts. Each team executed 10 (!!) penalties, Fayoum scoring only 5 and Telephonat 6, therefore winning by 6-5. Telephonat Beni Suef qualifies for the fourth preliminary round while Fayoum is out earlier than expected.
The new head coach, Barakat Ibrahim, must now concentrate on the league games, as Fayoum is classified in the lower half of the table.
