Wael Al Qabbani resigned, Barakat Ibrahim is the new head coach of Fayoum SC

On Thursday, 13 September, Fayoum drew 1-1 at home against Tahta, a newly-promoted side, in the fifth round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A. This was the third 1-1 draw in five matches, in the other two Fayoum won 2-0 against El Tahrir Aswan (another newly-promoted side) at home and lost 1-0 away to Telephonat Beni Suef.

Overall, the team achieved only 6 points in 5 matches (3 at home and 2 away), a rather poor performance, given the fact that the opponents were not among the strongest teams in the league. Fayoum is now 8th in the table (out of 14).
After the match against Tahta, head coach Wael Al Qabbani resigned and the club management immediately accepted his resignation.
Among the reasons for the poor results, Wael Al Qabbani mentioned that the team needed more time because many new players have been brought during summer, the fact that the team does not have a proper training ground and training facilities and that all the matches supposed to be played at home are actually played in Asyut, where many supporters are unable to come, because the stadium in Fayoum is still undergoing improvement works.
This year the pressure is high on all the teams in the Egyptian Second Division, as the Egyptian FA will change the system and there will be only one group (pool) starting with the next season. Therefore more than half of the teams in the three existing groups will be relegated to the Third Division.

Fayoum SC management moved fast and appointed Barakat Ibrahim as the new head coach of the team. He will have a very difficult mission, to bring the side to the forefront of Group A and to avoid relegation. The first match will be a very difficult one, away at Al Minya, in the sixth round of the Egyptian Second Division, next Thursday. Al Minya is one of the strongest teams in the group and a contender for promotion to the Premier League.
Barakat Ibrahim is an experienced coach. Previously, he trained teams like Aswan, Sohag, Al-Qais, Medina, Al Wasti, Al Nasr, and even outside Egypt, such as Amal Atbara in Sudan.
