Disaster strikes as Fayoum loses 2-0 at home against Sohag

In the 12th round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A, Fayoum lost 2-0 against Sohag at home - actually at Alassiouty Sports Complex, since Fayoum Stadium is not available yet. This is the first time this season that Fayoum SC loses on its own ground, and even worse, against a mid-table rival like Sohag, which means that the situation is pretty much out of control, as Fayoum stays on the 11th position (out of 14) and is ever farther from the upper half of the table. Therefore, hopes for a place in the next season Second Divison are gradually diminishing.

Because of the scandal last week when Fayoum lost 3-0 away at leaders Beni Suef, head coach Barakat Ibrahim was sacked. Negotiations with Tarik Al Sayed had no results, so Ahmed Latif, former team manager, led Fayoum as head coach in the match against Sohag.
The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute by Ahmed Hajji and increased their lead in the 77th minute by Mohamed Najah.
Fayoum Club management has now two weeks to find a solution, probably a new head coach able to motivate the players and to move the team up in the table, to avoid relegation. There is only one round remaining in the first half of the season, which will be played on Thursday, 20th of December.
