Saturday, the 30th of January 2021, 2.30 pm local time (12.30 pm UTC), Alassiouty Sport Resort, Fayoum, Egypt, the 11th round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A.
Fayoum SC had an extraordinary run of four consecutive wins at the end of December and the beginning of January, but everything seems to have changed since then, as the team registered five consecutive winless matches, including two draws and three defeats. Two of the defeats were at "home", actually at Alassiouty Sport Resort, because Fayoum Stadium is not allowed to host matches, and one defeat was in the Egypt Cup, away at Abo Tig, a lower league team. It all looked so good for a while that this negative series is really surprising. The last of these defeats came on Saturday, and Dayrout was the team which won the three points after a much disputed game. As usual, when Fayoum face Dayrout, there are many goals, only this time, not according to tradition, Dayrout eventually won 3-2. They led 3-0 until the stoppage time...
Even from the beginning of the game, it was obvious that Dayrout did not travel only to defend, and they succeeded to control the midfield, where most of the battles for the ball occurred. However, Fayoum had the biggest chances. First, Anas Shendy missed the target from an excellent position (22'). Then, Adham Hassan failed to convert a huge mistake made by the opposite goalkeeper and instead of sending the ball in, he preferred to pass it to Hussein Khaled, who missed (30').

The match was very much decided in the last five minutes of the first half and the first five minutes of the second. Ferghali Ballo's superb long-range shot gave Dayrout the lead: 0-1 (41'). Then a cross from the right side was mistakenly converted into an own goal by a Fayoum defender: 0-2 (44').
Right at the beginning of the second half, a slightly wrong pass and a bad control by Mahmoud Kamal "Schmeichel" led to the third goal for Dayrout, scored by Islam Abdul Radi after he remained one on one with goalkeeper Mostafa Dida: 0-3 (50').
Fayoum manager Ahmed Bakri tried everything, sending in Islam Magdy at half time, then changed positions between players, playing with Mahmoud Kamal as a secondary striker, then he introduced newly-transferred Mohamed Gomaa and Mahmoud "Gresha", eventually he introduced Ahmed Blidi, but to no avail. The only big opportunity was a long range shot by Anas Shendy, which hit the bar near the upper right corner (75').
It was only in the seven minutes (!) of stoppage time that Fayoum succeeded to score, and even twice! First, after a corner from the left, the ball was headed in from just a meter or so by Anas Shendy: 1-3 (90'+4'). The same Anas Shendy succeeded a double after a beautiful long range shot, which found the target this time: 2-3 (90'+7'). The referee allowed one more attack, even goalkeeper Mostafa Dida went in the opposite box, and he had the last chance of the game, sending the ball wide (90'+8').
