1. FK Svidník ended the first half of the season with a draw

After winning in the previous round away at Fil'akovo, 3-1, 1. FK Svidník hoped for a good result at home against TJ Tatran Oravské Veselé, one of the good teams in the group. The home side dominated the first half of the match, but they were unable to create many opportunities, because the visitors defended very well. A few times, the lines of defense were penetrated, but the ball crossed in fron of the goal reached none of the Svidník attackers. On the other hand, Oravské Veselé responded mainly on counterattacks, and Lukáš Janič tested Svidník's goalkeeper with a good shot from inside the box (34').

Eventually, the efforts made by the home side in the first half paid off, when Kristián Hirka's cross from the right side found Jozef Sova completely unmarked in the center of the box, and his shot went in: 1-0 (44').

The second half started with the visitors determined to equalize, and they succeeded quite quickly. Lukáš Janič crossed from the left, Peter Voško was able to control the ball and assisted Ján Jurky, whose shot went to the far corner: 1-1 (52').

The home side resumed their attacks, and had several chances to score the winning goal: Tokar's header from close range went straight into the goalkeeper (66'), Dávid Ivanecký succeeded to pass over the goalkeeper but his shot went wide from a difficult angle (72'), while Jozef Sova had twice the opportunity to score a double and the winning goal in the same minute (84'). The visitors seemed rather content with the draw, and defended thoroughly, but they could also won all the points, as Jurky's long range shot hit the side post (82').

1. FK Svidník finished the first half of the season in the 12th position, six points above the relegation line. It is difficult to say whether this is an accomplishment, because there is the second half of the season to be prepared and probably the main objective of the team remains to avoid relegation. It is not going to be easy, but the work made so far by manager Vladislav Palša and his team is quite encouraging and deserves praise.
