FK Tryavna 1922 won the 2022-2023 Gabrovo Regional League and everyone expected them to promote to the Bulgarian Third League - North-West Group (Severozapadna Treta Liga), where they last played in 2020-2021, when at the end of the season they were relegated to the Gabrovo Regional League.
Everything seemed fine, manager Ivan Marinov and the president of the club, Juliana Tsaneva, prepared the team for the new season, including a number of friendly matches, against Balkan Plachkovtsi (14 July), Ludogorets Youth Team (19 July), FK Sevlievo (22 July) and Etar II Veliko Tarnovo (2 August).
The first round of the Bulgarian Third League - North-West Group was scheduled on 12 August 2023. However, the Bulgarian Football Union have just published the schedule for the whole 2023-2024 season, and the North-West Group is made up by only 15 teams, instead of 16, and the missing one is FK Tryavna 1922.
It looks like, for one reason or another, FK Tryavna 1922 failed to enrol for the upcoming season. This means that they will likely play again in the Gabrovo Regional League for 2023-2024. It is a pity for a club that provides excellent conditions and facilities for football.
