Tersana and Fayoum had the same number of points, 7, before the start of the game, and were only separated by goal difference on top of Group B of the Egyptian Second Division B. The importance of the match in terms of the table and promotion to the Second Division A seemed to be high for the players of the two teams, who were unable to break the deadlock and score a goal.

The home side tried more offensively, but the visitors were very decided not to let anything happen, and defended fiercely, from the first minute to the last. Fayoum goalkeeper Mohamad Kandil was the player of the match, due to his numerous saves, but the other players deserve credit as well, for their defensive skills.

While there were many actions led by Tersana players, there were not really too many opportunities, because Fayoum blocked all the possible ways, and their defence was difficult to penetrate. Tersana had to play with crosses in the box, usually collected by Mohamad Kandil, or to try long range shots, without success.

With so much stress on defence on the part of Fayoum, there was not much left for the offensive. The visitors tried several counterattacks, and even reached the opposite box, but everything ended there. Tersana claimed two penalties, one at the beginning of the second half (47') and one at the end (86'), but the referee did not award any of them.
