FK Tryavna 1922 are runnners-up of the 2023-2024 Gabrovo League

The 2023-2024 season of the Gabrovo Regional League finished last week with the matches of round 22, and FK Tryavna 1922 finished second, only two points behind winners Lokomotiv 1927 Dryanovo. It is a pity, because they were actual leaders of the league for most of the season, but the decisive match played in Tryavna on 19 May and lost 5-3 to Lokomotiv 1927 Dryanovo reversed the situation in favour of the eventual winners.

However, one may admire the almost perfect season they made, with 18 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in 20 matches. In most competitions, one would win the league with such a record. Not in this case.

Last season, they were crowned champions of the Gabrovo League, but failed to enrol for the Bulgarian Third League - North-West Group (Severozapadna Treta Liga). This year perhaps they wanted the promotion more, but they failed to win the league. Rivals Lokomotiv 1927 Dryanovo will almost surely promote back to the Bulgarian Third League, while FK Tryavna 1922 will probably have to stay one more season in the Gabrovo League.

In case that two or more teams are equal on points, the main ranking criteria are the results of the head-to-head matches.

[1] Chardafon 1919 Gabrovo ahead of Blakan Plachkovtsi on head-to-head matches (6-5).

[2] Sportist Petko Slaveykov withdrew after round 16 and all their remaining matches were awarded 3-0 for their opponents. Their previous results still count, but they are demoted to the bottom of the table.
