Given that the (former?) owner, president and main sponsor of Bourj FC, Fadi Nasser, had announced in December that he would no longer support the club financially starting with January 2026, the club management announced that Bourj FC withdraws from the Lebanese Premier League. As pointed out earlier, this was one of the two possibilities, the worse one, but one may believe that the club management had really no other choice. This will simplify matters in terms of relegation from the Lebanese League in 2025-2026, as only one other team will be relegated, apart from Bourj FC.
The club had already remained without the manager Ahmad Atwi and most of the players, while the rest of the players were probably not interested to continue and were anyway searching for alternatives.
It is not yet clear if the youth teams of Bourj FC will continue in their competitions, or not. If the club will continue to exist, even if only with the junior teams, or it will fold and disappear. It would be a great tragedy for such a popular club to disappear altogether. This would be the most pessimistic alternative.
In the most optimistic alternative, the club will find a new sponsor in the first half of 2026 and will be able to enrol in the Second Division for the 2026-2027 season.
