Al Walideya and Fayoum SC met on Thursday, 16 August 2018, for the second round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A. The kick-off was at 4.30 pm (local time) at Shabab Nasser Stadium in Asyut.
The hosts, which had lost the game in the first round away against Tahta, 1-2, started in an offensive manner and succeeded to score in the 18th minute by Murad Sabri. Fayoum players gave a strong and quick reply and equalized after just five minutes by Mohammed Juma in the 23rd minute.
The match was rather balanced after that. In the second half, Al Walideya fans started to insult and even injure some of the players and technical staff of Fayoum SC and the referee had to stop the game for more than 10 minutes for the incidents to be called off. The game resumed after the most aggressive fans were moved out from the stadium, but no goals were scored until the end.
For Fayoum SC, this is the second 1-1 draw in a row, and the team has 2 points after 2 rounds. In the next round, after two weeks, on Thursday, 30 August, Fayoum will meet at home the newly-promoted El Tahrir Aswan, the last in the classification.
