Given their three consecutive wins, two of them away, at Poprad and (most striking) at Snina, 1. FK Svidník are pretty out of the relegation danger already. This is however not true for the visitors, MŠK Námestovo, which are classified just above the red line and are quite desperate to get some points to be in a safer position.
This was seenable in the game, as 1. FK Svidník were much calmer, while the visitors tried hard to score and they actually had a number of excellent opoortunities, including a penalty, but somehow succeeded to miss them all!
The two teams shared periods of dominance in the match, while sometimes there was a certain balance, so the final score is justified. The home side started a bit better, and they approached the goal more often than the visitors in the beginning. Yevhenii Nemtinov had a couple of chances, but each time his shot was saved by goalkeeper Jakub Novák (17' and 31').
Námestovo played more offensively towards the end of the first half. In a very crowded box, Timotej Magul'ak fouled Piort Straczek and the referee awarded the penalty for visitors. They say the one who was fouled should never execute the penalty kick. Nevertheless, Piort Straczek did exactly that, and he was denied by goalkeeper Ivan Tiurin (41').
In the second half, the visitors took hold of the game for most of the time. However, the home side had the first chance to score, as Norbert Grejták's long-range shot was saved by Jakub Novák from underneath the crossbar (53').
Námestovo had some good offensive actions, and Jozef Stašák's shot was blocked by Tiurin (61'). Towards the end of the match, Svidník looked more offensive and determined to score the winning goal, but rarely reached the opposite box dangerously. Sub Tomáš Klučár had the biggest chance, but was blocked by the opposite defenders (87').
The visitors had another extraordinary chance on a counterattack, but Matúš Snovák hit the side post (89').
