Crushing defeats, 7-1 and 8-0, for 1. FK Svidník in the Slovakian Third League - East

The situation of 1. FK Svidník in the Slovakian Third League (East Group) seems to be more and more difficult. The team hardly manages to play a game, and their defeats are beginning to look shameful. On the 26th of September 2020, they played away at ŠK Odeva Lipany, one of the strong teams in the group, and lost 7-1. The paradox is that 1. FK Svidník scored first, right in the first minute of the game, by Michal Tokar, and then they resisted for a while, as 16-years old goalkeeper Anton Dzupina saved a penalty executed by Andrić in the 13th minute. But it did not last long, as the hosts equalized by Kral'ovič (29') and took the lead right before the break, by Kovalčík (43'): 2-1. In the beginning of the second half, Lipany scored two more goals by Pida (50') and Kovalčík (65'): 4-1. Jan Ducár was sent off for a second yellow card (71'), and down in 10 men 1. FK Svidník received three more from Kral'ovič (72'), Vysočan (75') and Pida (90').
On the 1st of October, because of the increased number of COVID-19 cases, the Slovak authorities raised the level of the restrictions imposed in all spheres of activity, including football, and was even possible for the football activity to be stopped again completely. Negotiations led to several solutions, difficult to be applied by football clubs. Spectators will not be allowed any longer in the stadiums, while the players and staff need to be tested for coronavirus right before every game (24 hours ahead of the game).

In this context, four out of eight matches scheduled for the 11th round were postponed for various reasons. On the 4th of October, 1. FK Svidník should have played at home against MŠK Spišské Podhradie, but the match was also postponed. One of the Svidník players had a fever in the night before the game and the test result did not reach the club in due time, on one hand, and the parent of a player tested positive, so the player remained in isolation, also expecting the results for the test. Because of the general context and the new regulations, it was considered best to postpone the match, although this was one of the few games in which Svidník had a fair chance to get some point(s).
However, in the next week-end, on the 11th of October, 1. FK Svidník had no choice but to play, away at Mladost Kalša, using a very young team. It was 3-0 at half time and 8-0 in the end, a score which says everything about the difference between the two teams.
1. FK Svidník continues to be last in the table, but not far from the other competitors, so not everything is lost in this battle for survival. However, their next match home will be a very tough one, against MFK Vranov nad Topl'ou, on Sunday, the 18th of October, at 2 pm local time.
