After a long break in the competition, on Thursday, 22 November, Fayoum SC played against Aswan at "home", actually at Alassiouty Sports Complex, as Fayoum Stadium is not yet ready for official games, in the 10th round of the Egyptian Second Division.
The visitors, one of the favorites for promotion to the Egyptian Premier League, took the lead rather early, in the 12th minute. Then the match turned very tense, and Fayoum coach Barakat Ibrahim was sent off in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Fayoum pressed harder for an equalizer and managed to score in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Aswan was down to ten men because their goalkeeper was sent off in the 80th minute. As Aswan had made all three substitutions, one of the field players had to take the unusual position of goalkeeper. Fayoum eventually succeeded to find the goal after several unsuccessful attempts.
Despite this point, Fayoum dropped to eleventh place in the table, but it is still close to the other mid-table teams and still has a chance to avoid relegation. Aswan, however, lost two points and are now exactly two points behind Beni Suef in the second position.
The next week, Fayoum will play a very difficult game away at top spot Beni Suef.
