Marcelo Grioni is the new manager of Cusco FC

Just a couple of days after Claudio Vivas was sacked, Cusco FC appointed a new manager. As expected, another Argentinian, Marcelo Grioni, received the difficult task to save Cusco FC from relegation in the remaining 10 matches of the Peruvian First Division (Stage 2).

Marcelo Grioni is not entirely new to the team, as he managed Real Garcilaso (the name of Cusco FC until 2019) in 2017. Those were different times, when the Cusco team was fighting for the national title, eventually finishing second, behind Alianza Lima.

Marcelo Grioni was manager of Real Garcilaso in 2017, and came back to Cusco FC to save the team from relegation.

More recently, as manager of the other Cusco team, Cienciano, he succeeded to promote to the Peruvian First Division in 2019 and had very good results there in 2020 and the first half of 2021.

Cusco's first match with Marcelo Grioni as manager will be a very tough one. On Sunday evening, Cusco FC will face defending champions Sporting Cristal.
