Sohag and Fayoum drew 1-1 in the Egyptian Second Division, Group A

The Egyptian Second Division is getting closer to the end, and the matches are ever more dramatic, especially in the relegation area. The promotion seems to be solved: Aswan SC just recorded their sixth consecutive win and have 12 points ahead of the second classified, KIMA Aswan (which have not yet played in this round).

The match in Sohag was of utmost importance for both teams. Sohag are among those teams trying to get out of the relegation area, while Fayoum, despite being in sixth position, are just a few points above the terrible line of descent.

The match started quite amazingly, with two early goals. The visitors were the first to score, by means of Islam Fathy: 0-1 (7'). After just another seven minutes, the referee awarded a penalty for Sohag, and Moamen Mohsen equalized: 1-1 (14').

Unfortunately, no other goals were scored in the game, although both teams had plenty of chances. 

In the next round, both teams will have very strong opponents, as Fayoum will face El Minya at home, while Sohag will play away at Aluminium.
