Sport Boys - Real Garcilaso 3-1 in the fourth round of the Peruvian Clausura

On Saturday evening, 22 September, Real Garcilaso traveled to Miguel Grau Stadium in Callao to meet Sport Boys, one of the teams fighting to avoid relegation to the Peruvian Second Division. Uruguayan head coach Tabare Silva used the same starting XI as in the previous two macthes, which resulted in two wins for Real Garcilaso: Ortiz - Arismendi, Kontogiannis, Dulanto, Cossio - Aucca, Archimbaud - Vidales, Ramua, Santillan - Rengifo.

After a rather bleak first half which ended 0-0, the second half proved much more entertaining. The home side scored from a free kick, perfectly executed by Johnnier Montano: 1-0 (min. 51). Real Garcilaso responded and equalized with a similarly superb left-footed shot by Ivan Santillan: 1-1 (min. 62). Although Real Garcilaso dominated, Sport Boys succeeded in scoring again by a header of Andy Maelo Reategui after a corner (min. 77). In the final minutes, Real Garcilaso struggled for a goal, but in the last moments of the game, a counter by the home side was finalized by Manuel Tejada: 3-1 (min. 90+4).
In the 89th minute, Arroe (Sport Boys) and Aucca (Garcilaso) were sent off for fighting after a foul of Arroe on Aucca. This means that Aucca will be missing the next game this Thursday (27 September) against Apertura winners, Sporting Cristal, and Tabare Silva will probably have to use another young player, most likely Velasquez as right back.
This defeat meant that Real Garcilaso lost the top spot in the Peruvian Clausura, going down to 5th place after 4 rounds.
