On the 23rd of December 2019, the press release issued by the management of Real Garcilaso stated that the new name of the club will be Cusco FC. Other identity symbols, like the club colours and crest (badge), have also changed or are likely to be changed soon, as club owners are firmly decided to part ways with the past and the whole "Garcilaso" issue.
Therefore, it is perhaps time to have a look back at several statistics regarding the players of Real Garcilaso. The club was established in July 2009 but competed in lower leagues and in Copa Perú until 2011, when they succeeded to win the Copa Perú and gained access to the Peruvian First Division. Since 2012, Real Garcilaso has performed very well in the First Division, as well as in South American competitions (Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana).
Alfredo Ramúa, Real Garcilaso's all-time goalscorer and the player with most appearances
At the end of the 2019 season, Alfredo Ramúa became the footballer who played most matches for Real Garcilaso, 225 in the First Division and 273 in all official competitions, slightly surpassing Iván Santillán, who is second, with 222 matches played for Real Garcilaso in the First Division and 267 in all competitions. Jhoel Herrera is third, with 194 and 239 matches, respectively.
Alfredo Ramúa is also the all-time goalscorer for Real Garcilaso, having scored 40 goals in the First Division and 55 in all competitions in six years. He is just one goal ahead of Danilo Carando, who scored 39 goals in the First Division for Real Garcilaso. However, the difference is higher if one takes into account all official competitions, as Danilo Carando only scored a total of 47 goals. Ramón Rodríguez is third, with 34 and 41 goals respectively.
