Beni Suef came back on the top spot of the Egyptian Second Division - Group A, after a difficult 1-0 victory over Fayoum, a team which is again in the relegation area. The visitors, managed by the former Beni Suef coach, Mohamed Youssef, played bravely and were not far from a surprising result.
However, it was the home side which controlled most of the game, especially in the first half, when they also scored the only goal: after a corner, Bilal Salem headed the ball home: 1-0 (28').
In the second half, both teams had many opportunities, the biggest ones belonging to Karim Ashraf (Beni Suef) and Amr El Fayoumi (Fayoum). The visitors pressed for an equalizer which did not come.
