The last match of the 10th round of the Clausura Tournament was played on Sunday evening, 28 October, between Real Garcilaso of Cusco and F.B.C. Melgar of Arequipa, the "derby of the South". It was an entertaining game, which ended 2-2 (1-1 at half time). Melgar led 1-0 and 2-1 by goals scored by Biancucchi (in the 10th minute) from inside the area after a counter-attack and Carmona (in the 49th minute) in a similar manner.
Real Garcilaso succeeded in equalizing each time, first by Arismendi in the 19th minute, with a header from close range after an excellent service by Ramua, and then by Dulanto, who slightly touched a ball sent in the area by the same Ramua from a free kick in the 76th minute.
In the last minutes, the referee over-reacted and sent off three players, Miguez (in the 79th minute) and Carmona (in the 89th minute) from Melgar and Alessandrini (in the first minute of stoppage time) from Real Garcilaso. Despite having more players on the pitch, Real Garcilaso did not find the winning goal.
Melgar remain the leaders of Clausura and are 99% qualified for the play-offs, either as winners of Clausura or as the best team in the aggregate table, other than the winners of any tournament, as they are 9 points above Alianza Lima. On the other hand, with 5 matches to go, Real Garcilaso lost any chance of winning the Clausura and are 4 points behind Alianza Lima in the aggregate table, their only remaining opportunity to reach the play-offs in case Melgar are winners of Clausura.
Real Garcilaso: Caceda - Arismendi, Canova, Dulanto, Santillan - Aucca (64 Alessandrini), Alvarez - Vidales, Ramua, Landauri (55 Cossio) - Rengifo. Head coach: Victor Ramos.
F.B.C. Melgar: Penny - Carmona, Narvaez, Quina, Mifflin - Miguez - Biancucchi, Arias, Sanchez (82 Villamarin), Gonzales - Iberico (90+2 Arakaki). Head coach: Hernan Torres.
Referee: Augusto Menendez.
