After a double against Naser Barelias, Bourj FC is out of the FA Cup but leads the Lebanese Second Division

In the previous week-end, on Saturday, 13 October, Bourj FC met Naser Barelias in the preliminary round of the Lebanese FA Cup. The match was played on a neutral ground, at Bhamdoun Stadium in Aley.

Despite the several changes made to the starting line-up for a cup game, Bourj were considered favourites as Naser Barelias are classified last in the Second Division. Nevertheless, Naser succeeded to score in the first half, while Bourj were able to equalize a few minutes later by Wassem Abdelhady.

In the second half and the extra time, Bourj had lots of scoring opportunities but missed them all.

The match was decided by the penalty shootout, which was won by Naser Barelias by 4-3. Bourj FC is therefore out of the Lebanese FA Cup from the first round, just like last year.

The same teams met this week-end, on Sunday 21 October, in the fifth round of the Lebanese Second Division, on Jamal abd al Nasser Stadium in Rashaya, the home ground for Naser Barelias.

This time, despite being away, Bourj FC won rather easily by 3-0, goals scored by Samih Damaj (2 goals) and Hassan Mallah by penalty.

Due to this win and the other results, Bourj are now leaders of the Lebanese Second Division, having the same points but a higher goal difference compared to Shabab El Bourj and Shabab Al Arabi.

The next Sunday, Bourj FC will play at home the big derby against local rivals Shabab El Bourj, which also happens to be the match between the first and second classified.
