1. FK Svidnik wins 2-1 over FK Pokrok SEZ Krompachy in the ninth round of the Slovakian 3. Liga - East

Sunday, the 15th of September 2019, 15:30 local time (13:30 UTC), Mestsky futbalovy stadion, Svidnik, Slovakia, the ninth round of the Slovakian 3. Liga - East.

After a 2-2 draw at group favourites Tatran Presov, 1. FK Svidnik needed a win at home to secure a much needed spot in the middle of the classification, as far away as possible from the troubles of the relegation zone. The match against FK Pokrok SEZ Krompachy was a "must-win" for Svidnik, as the visitors are among the teams fighting to avoid relegation, and at least against these teams they are supposed to win the matches on their home ground.

The home side started therefore attacking right from the beginning and their efforts soon materialized. After a corner from the right, the ball got to Cabala, who scored with a right-footed shot from the left side of the area: 1-0 (18'). After a similar corner from the right side, executed by Kuhajdik, the same Cabala doubled the advantage of the home side with a header from close range: 2-0 (27').

In the second half, the visitors succeeded to reduce the difference in the last minute, by means of Kal'avsky (90'), but nothing more.

This was in fact the only win registered by a home side in this round, dominated by the visitors, which won six out of eight matches!
In the next round, 1. FK Svidnik will play away at leaders Odeva Lipany, a team that won seven out of the total eight matches they played so far. Even if Svidnik are clear outsiders, they seemed to have specialized in surprises, especially away, given the results obtained at Snina and recently at Presov.
FK Pokrok SEZ Krompachy will have a similarly difficult game away at Tatran Presov.
