MFK Vranov nad Topl'ou have just reached the top position of the previous round of the Slovakian 3. Liga - East, taking advantage of Odeva Lipany's defeat at Tatran Presov. However, they were unable to maintain their leadership in the group, as they lost 1-0 to 1. FK Svidník, a team which seems to get good results in front of the top clubs in this group. Their 2-2 draw away at Tatran Presov was a big surprise, but it is this result against MFK Vranov which may give them the status of "giant killers" at this level of the Slovak 3. Liga.
The match was balanced overall, actually no difference was noticeable between the eighth classified and the first place. Even more, the hosts were able to score rather early in the game: Marek Kisel'a crossed the ball in the area from a free kick on the right side, and a perfectly executed header by Jakub Bialoncík sent the ball in the back of the net: 1-0 (20').

The visitors tried to equalize but they missed a few opportunities. On the break, the Svidník team could have their doubled their advantage. Filip Bednár should have been happy to get only a yellow card for a foul on Stanislav Pil'ar, escaped towards the goal (32').
In the second half, the match was mainly played in the middle of the field, as the hosts put up a strong opposition to the visitors' attacks. MFK Vranov nad Topl'ou rarely reached the opposite area and their few shots missed the target. On the contrary, 1. FK Svidník's counterattacks proved more dangerous. Maksim Maslov had a one on one chance with the goalkeeper Emil Sudimák but was unable to score (76') and a few minutes later Michal Tokar had a similar opportunity but was eventually blocked.
In the end, Vranov players got very nervous and the referee had some issues in calming them down.

1. FK Svidník continue the series of good results and remain in the upper half of the table, while MFK Vranov see themselves down to fourth place (on goal difference) and two points below the new leaders, Odeva Lipany.
In the next round, 1. FK Svidník will have a difficult game away to third place FK Humenné, while MFK Vranov will play at home in front of a low table opponent, POKROK SEZ Krompachy.
