Real Garcilaso wins 2-0 over Universidad Cesar Vallejo in the 11th round of the Peruvian Clausura

Monday, the 14th of October 2019, 15:00 local time (20:00 UTC), Inca Garcilaso de la Vega Stadium, Cuzco, Peru, the 11th round of Clausura, Peruvian Liga 1.
Real Garcilaso regain strength after a clear success, 2-0 over Universidad Cesar Vallejo. The home side was in control throughout the entire game and won easily, as the visitors had very few chances and rarely approached the opposite area.
Real Garcilaso, with many young players fielded this time, had a good first half. The visitors goalkeeper, Pretel, saved miraculously a header by Carando but was unable to block another header, this time by Arismendi, from a close range, after an excellent cross by Ramua from a free kick on the right side: 1-0 (29').
In the second half, the home side started equally well and doubled their advantage early: the ball crossed by Velasquez was blocked by Villamarin's hand exactly on the side edge of the area, and the referee awarded a penalty, transformed by Ramua: 2-0 (52'). Universidad Cesar Vallejo tried to come back in the game, but their shots went wide, and the impression was that Real Garcilaso controlled the game and preserved well their advantage. In the final minutes, they could score more, but Pretel saved the shots by Lecaros and Velasquez.
Real Garcilaso: Ferreyra - Arismendi, Canova, Quina, Joao Ortiz - Aucca, Nunez (Goyoneche 72') - Ismodes (Velasquez 46'), Ramua, Lecaros - Carando (Rengifo 87'). Head coach: Juan Chumpitaz.
Universidad Cesar Vallejo: Pretel - Rostaing (A. Sanchez 62'), Requena, Villamarin, Fleitas, Rodas - Ysique, Benitez (R. Diaz 75'), Rios, Ramirez - S. Silva (Velasco 57'). Head coach: Juan Del Solar.
Referee: Luis Seminario.
Yellow cards: Quina 90'+2' - S. Silva 56', Requena 57', A. Sanchez 90'.
This was only the third win by Real Garcilaso in the Clausura, after a very poor performance in the first half of the tournament. However, they moved up farther away from the relegation area and they came closer to the teams fighting for a place in the Copa Sudamericana, like their opponents, Universidad Cesar Vallejo. The gap between these two teams is now only three points.
In the next round, Real Garcilaso will play away at Academia Cantolao in Callao, while Universidad Cesar Vallejo will play at home against Univeristario de Deportes, the leaders of Clausura so far.
