Tuesday, the 22nd of December 2020, 2.30 pm local time (12.30 pm UTC), Minya University Stadium, Minya, Egypt, the 5th round of the Egyptian Second Division, Group A.
The local team, Al Minya, leaders of Group A in the Egyptian Second Division, started as big favorites for this game, but the situation in the field looked very different. Fayoum started very well, pressing constantly the opponents, and this aggressive style led to the first and only goal of the game, as one of the Minya defenders passed mistakenly, the ball was intercepted by Hussein Khaled, who finished to the right of the goalkeeper: 0-1 (18').
After the goal, the home side took the initiative and dominated most of the game, but seldom reached the opposite box and created very few dangerous goal chances, which were either missed or saved by Fayoum's defender or the goalkeeper Mostafa Jaber "Dida".
Fayoum responded mainly by fast breaks, but were unable to increase their advantage, so emotions remained high until the end.

Despite the defeat, Al Minya remained on top of the group, as many of the other contenders registered surprisingly bad results. Fayoum are now 10th in the table, but they are only 3 points away from the first place! The classification is very balanced in in its upper part.
In the next round, on Monday, the 28th of December, Al Minya will play away to Media, while Fayoum will face Asyut Cement at home.
