When the ”clean sheet” is everything in football: Bourj - Tadamon Sour 0-0 in the 9th round of the Lebanese Premier League

Bourj FC remained this week without Abou Bakr Al-Mel, who was transferred to UiTM in the Malaysia Super League, a move which was probably perfected some time ago, even before his arrival at Bourj this summer, according to some sources. It is therefore not a surprise that Bourj attack looked even worse and that a 0-0 draw is possibly the best result this team may dream about. This the fourth 0-0 in nine league matches, and the third 0-0 in the last four matches, but really the worst of them all, because of the low quality opponent. Tadamon Sour is fighting to avoid relegation, so for them any point is valuable, so they did everything they could to stop Bourj FC from scoring. Unfortunately, not much had to be done, because Bourj showed a terrifying lack of offensive ideas, while they had the overall control of the game, which did not help enough.
There were very few goal chances scattered among the first and the second half. A very weak header straight into the arms of the goalkeeper (12'), an unconverted cross in front of the goal (20') and a few shots missing the target, all from Bourj, were the highlights of the first half. The second half saw a little bit more action, and the biggest opportunity for Mohamad Kassem, who headed high unmarked in the middle of the box after a cross by Hamza Abboud (67'). Tadamon Sour also showed some signs of life outside their own half, and had two shots, one wide, and another one saved by Abdel Karim Saleh. Towards the end, Bourj tried to increase the pressure, using young substitutes, but without any positive outcome. The game finished with a disappointing 0-0 for Bourj, possibly not so disappointing for Tadamon Sour.

Bourj: Abdel Karim Saleh - Hamza Abboud, Khodor Hallak, Ahmad Al Khatib, Walid Ismail - Mohamad Kassem, Hussein Ibrahim, Mohamad Al Faour - Ibrahim Abou Hamdan (Zein Al Abidin Farran 58'), Fadel Antar, Hussein Al Outa (Mohamad Nasser 76'). Manager: Fouad Hijazi.
Tadamon: Mohammad Santina - Abbas Ckerkawi, Ali Abdallah Bitar, Hussein Mhaydle, Mostapha Nouredine (Hassan Cherkawi 46'), Bilal Hajo, Mohammad Dbouk, Jawad Koutharani (Asaad Siblini 77'), Ali Ibrahim Bitar (Zaher Samahi 75'), Hassan Hwayla (Ibrahim Abou Jabal 83'), Ali Awada (Mohammad Saad 86'). Manager: Mohammad Zouheir.
Referee: Mohamad Haddad.
Yellow card: Ahmad Al Khatib (90'+2').
There are two rounds to play in the regular season, and they will be probably played before the New Years' Eve. The prospects for Bourj to stay in the top six and to qualify for the play-off are grim. Their next match will be against Al Ansar, the main favorites for the title this year. Their last match in the regular season will be against Shabab Al Ghazieh, a team very much like Tadamon Sour, fighting to avoid relegation. Two difficult matches for Bourj, which desperately need good results to claim their place in the play-off.
