Fayoum SC obtained a prestigious and rather unexpected win away at Beni Suef, in a match in which they were clearly in the position of the outsider.
Beni Suef started the game in a very offensive manner, and Ahmed Saber Mansheya committed a foul right on the edge of the box in the 8th minute, receiving a yellow card. The referee did not award a penalty, despite protests from the Beni Suef, but a free kick. However, the very dangerous position could have led to a goal, but the shot was deflected into a corner (10'). The attacks continued at the same pace, and Bilal Zakaria and Hamada Ahmed Ali missed a couple of excellent chances to put Beni Suef in front.
It was about the middle of the first half when Fayoum started to have their own chances, and a long-range shot by Mohamed Morsi hit the crossbar (23'). The game became more balanced. While Beni Suef maintained the overall control, the ball possession, and had most of the opportunities, Fayoum also had several counterattacks that could have ended in a goal, but Sayed Kanaria's shot was saved by the goalkeeper (43') and Alaa Metwally's strong header went wide (45').
In the second half, the game looked very similar, with Beni Suef attacking more and creating more dangerous situations. Fayoum goalkeeper Islam Emad Risha had several crucial saves. Nevertheless, the visitors also had their chances: after a corner executed by Mohamad Adel from the right side, Mahmoud Kamal "Schmeichel"'s header missed the target by a small margin (63').
The balance in the game ended when Ahmed Saber Mansheya received another yellow card for a foul, which was in fact the second one, so he received the red card and was sent off (74'). From this moment on, Beni Suef attacked almost continuously and Fayoum's efforts were concentrated on defense only. Even with one man up, Beni Suef seemed unable to find the way to the goal, as the visitors' defense resisted stubbornly, and goalkeeper Islam Emad Risha was at his best.
To rub salt into Beni Suef's wound, in one of the very few times when Fayoum players crossed the half-way line after they remained in ten, they actually scored. Mohamed Morsi cleared a ball near his own box, launching Mostafa Sal on the right wing, surrounded by defenders. Mostafa Sal noticed that goalkeeper Ahmed Hamdy was slightly out and sent a long-range shot from the right flank, to the surprise of everyone, hitting the target: 0-1 (90'+3').
The shock was too high for Beni Suef players to do anything else in the remaining minutes of stoppage time, and Fayoum took their revenge for a long series of negative results against Beni Suef.

Given the three points, Fayoum climbed into fifth position in the table, and may climb to the fourth place if they win their next match, at home, against Asyut Petroleum, which are now fourth with just one point ahead of Fayoum. Beni Suef are only eighth and will have a very difficult game away at Aluminium.
In the Aswan derby, surprisingly decisive for the top spot, Aswan defeated KIMA Aswan by 1-0 and increased the gap between them to four points. This was the first defeat for KIMA Aswan this season.
