A few days ago, Fayoum SC confirmed that Ahmed Abdel-Ghani will be the manager of Fayoum SC for the remaining five rounds of the season in the Egyptian Second Division.

The 40-year old manager, a native of El Minya, was a well-known player for Haras El Hodood between 2004 and 2013. During his long spell there, he was also brought to the national senior team of Egypt, where he was capped 5 times between 2006 and 2009. His last appearances as a player in the Egyptian Premier League were with Misr Lel Makkasa in 2013-2014.
As a manager, he was involved mainly with lower division teams in and around Cairo. He now has the opportunity to show his managerial qualities in the Second Division, as manager of Fayoum SC.
His managerial team also includes Alaa Abdo, general coach (assistant manager), Ahmed Fathi, physiotherapist, and Tamer Abdel Halim, goalkeepers' coach.
Ahmed Abdel-Ghani replaced Sayed Sobhi, who was sacked after a winless run of 8 matches, which brought Fayoum SC once again close to the dangerous area of the table, not far from relegation. Fayoum SC still have 7 points above the relegation line with five matches that remain to be played. Ahmed Abdel-Ghani should succeed to keep the team in the Second Division. The matches will be played against Qena (away), leaders Aswan (at home), Tamya (away), Beni Suef (at home), and Asyut Petroleum (away). The matches are quite difficult, especially those against Aswan and Asyut Petroleum, which are among the best teams in the group. The matches against Qena and Tamya will be played away, while the match against Beni Suef might be a decisive one, against a direct opponent.
Ahmed Abdel-Ghani will have a few weeks to accommodate himself and his managerial team with the players, given that the league will only resume after the holy month of Ramadan. The table as it stands:
