Match decided by a penalty in stoppage time: Alianza Universidad de Huánuco - Cusco FC 1-0 (0-0)

Wednesday, the 23rd of September 2020, 11 am local time (4 pm UTC), Videña Stadium, Lima (neutral ground), Peru, the 13th round of the Liga 1 - Apertura (or Stage 1).
Second defeat in a row for Cusco FC, which can really say it was mostly due to bad luck... but also due to their negligence, both in attack and in the defence. Otherwise, Cusco FC dominated most of the game, had the biggest goal chances, and even a draw looked as an unfair result towards the end. But when Erick Gonzales lost the ball to Maidana just outside the area, when he had so many possibilities to pass to any of the teammates around him, and then committed an unnecessary foul in the corner of the area, the whole game turned upside down: the penalty was executed and transformed by Pajoy: 1-0 (90'+2').
Cusco FC had the same chance in the first half, when the referee gave them a penalty for a hand ball inside the area. However, Carando missed or, if you wish, Morales saved (40'). In the second half, Cusco FC had more possession but they had a single big chance, a header by the same Carando, saved by the same Morales, while Alianza Universidad also had a good chance, but Gómez also saved Maidana's shot.
Alianza Universidad: Morales - Ramos, Mogollón, Cánova, Encinas (Carbajal 65') - Ramírez (Ramírez), Mendoza - Duran (Pacheco 72'), Rengifo (F. Gómez 65'), Pajoy - Maidana. Head coach: Rony Revollar.
Cusco FC: C. Gómez - Chávez (Rivera 88'), Saravia, Paniagua, Céspedes - Gonzales, Valenzuela - Toledo (Pósito 90'+4'), Ramúa, Mimbela (Bólo 63') - Carando. Coach: Ariel Paz.
Cusco FC needs a new head coach, and quickly. The sacking of Carlos Ramacciotti was a bad idea, but probably cannot be undone. The present so-called head coach, Francisco Melgar, is suspended, and is not even present at the matches, while Ariel Paz cannot lead the team properly.
