Though undefeated, Carlos Ramacciotti is no longer the head coach of Cusco FC. Francisco Melgar is interim coach

The management of Cusco FC announced yesterday that Carlos Ramacciotti is no longer the head coach of Cusco FC and that him and his staff parted ways amiably with the club.
This is quite shocking, given the fact that he arrived as head coach at the beginning of March 2020, right before the pandemic started, and Cusco FC won the only game that was played in March with him as a head coach. Then, all the preparations until August, when the Peruvian League restarted, were made under his control. The team seemed well prepared when the season restarted, as Cusco FC won the first two games against Carlos Stein and Sport Boys and drew in the next two games, against Alianza Lima and Academia Cantolao. These are indeed very good results: one should also take into account that these matches were played on "neutral" grounds in Lima, and therefore in fact they were quite similar to away matches against the teams in Lima and Callao, indeed all these games except for the one against Carlos Stein. So, the overall statistics for Carlos Ramacciotti as head coach of Cusco FC include five games, of which three wins and two draws. And one should also remember that Cusco FC were among the last in the table before the arrival of Carlos Ramacciotti and now they are in a safe mid-table position.

It is therefore hard to understand the decision of the club management. The last two games, against Alianza Lima (which were down to 10 men since the first half) and Academia Cantolao could have been won, but one cannot win every game.
The sporting director, Francisco Melgar, became interim coach, until a new head coach will be appointed. Francisco Melgar was head coach of Deportivo Coopsol last year, in the Peruvian Second League, and he might have a chance to become head coach indefinitely if helped by good results. The next game of Cusco FC will be on Monday against Universidad de San Martin de Porres.
