Because the 2020 Elite and Challenge Cup were cancelled, and the start of the Lebanese Premier League was postponed, a friendly competition called the Captain's Cup is organized by Premier League clubs in Beirut and its surroundings. The eight participant teams were placed in two groups of four.
Al Ansar, Al Ahed, SAFA and Shabab El Bourj are in Group A, while Nejmeh, Shabab Sahel, Bourj FC and Shabab al-Ghazieh are in Group B. The first two classified in each group will qualify for the semifinals, and the winners of the semifinals will play the final, scheduled for Saturday, the 26th of September.
In the first match of Group B, on Wednesday, the 9th of September, Bourj FC and Nejmeh drew 0-0, despite a very good game made by both teams. The match was played on the small Al Ahed Stadium in the southern suburbs of Beirut, considered as a neutral ground for both teams. This stadium hosts in fact all the matches of this friendly competition. The game was broadcasted live on Facebook.
It was an excellent opportunity for both managers to see their players in a football game after many months without any football.
