Bourj FC prepares the new season with a new president and many new players

On 20 September 2019, Bourj FC will play in the first round of the top Lebanese Football League after 16 years of absence. In the meantime, they already play in the Challenge Cup, a competition reserved to some of the Lebanese Premier League teams.

Since the first days of April, when crowned champions of the Second Division, Bourj FC has already gone through a series of changes. They have a new owner, Fadi Nasser, and his son, Nabih Fadi Nasser, is the new president of the club. Nevertheless, the technical staff which achieved promotion to the Premier League was kept, so Mohammad Dakka continues as head coach and Fouad Hijazi as assistant coach. Ahmed Khalifa was brought in as goalkeepers' coach.
Many new players have been transferred, and this is a comprehensive list:
Mohammed Santina - goalkeeper, born in 1985, transferred from Shabab Al-Ghazieh
Afif Zreik - goalkeeper, born in 1997, transferred from Gharouf
Hamzeh Abboud - defender, born in 1984, transferred from Bekaa Club
Ali Karaki - defender, born in 1996, transferred from Safa
Walid Ismael - defender, former Lebanese international, born in 1984, transferred from Salam Zgharta
Abdulfattah Achour - defender, born in 1992, transferred from Al Ansar (last season he played at Nejmeh, on loan)
Mohammed Rida Al-Dur - defender, born in 1997, transferred from Al Kharayb
Mohammed Qassem - midfielder, Palestinian player, born in 1987, transferred from Al Ansar
Mohamed Faour - midfielder, born in 1988, transferred from Tadamon Sour
Hussein Ibrahim "Al Saouk" - midfielder, born in 1993, fully transferred from Al Ansar (last year he played on loan)
Ibrahim Abu Hamdan - forward, transferred from Bekaa Club
Mohammed Jaafar - forward, born in 1990, transferred from Safa
Hussein Al-Outa - forward, born in 1990, transferred from Safa
Mohammed Jawad Abu Khalil - forward, born in 1998, transferred from Salam Sour
Mohamed Al-Mirkabawi "Ecker" - forward, born in 1994, transferred from Gandzasar Kapan (Armenia)
Stephen Sarfo - striker, former Ghanaian youth international, born in 1992, transferred from Tadamon Sour.
It is not yet clear how many of the players who achieved promotion to the Premier League would stay. Given the large number of newcomers, it is obvious that there is not enough room for everybody and some will go out to other teams.
Transfers were also made for the junior team, which just started the youth (U-19) Lebanese League this week-end, losing 3-1 to Al Ahed U-19 at Safa Stadium in Beirut. The match was eventually awarded 3-0 to Al Ahed because Bourj has used a banned player, according to kooora.com
