Sunday, the 4th of August 2019, 16:30 local time (14:30 UTC), Mestsky futbalovy stadion, Snina, Slovakia, the third round of the Slovak 3. Liga - East.
MFK Snina were big favorites ahead of the game, as they started very well the competition, winning the first two matches and having the possibility of equalizing FK Humenne on top of the group with the maximum of 9 points in case they win again. Moreover, in the previous season, MFK Snina won both matches (home and away) over 1. FK Svidnik, which however, proved to be a tougher opponent this season, considering the only match they played, which finished 0-0 away at Spisska Nova Ves. Their game in the second round at home against local rivals Tesla Stropkov was postponed, so 1. FK Svidnik remained with only one point in the lower part of the table for the moment, and were clearly looking forward to improve on that. Two former Ukrainian players of 1. FK Svidnik, Rohulskyi and Losiev, are now playing for Snina, so this is one more reason why this match might turn out to be an interesting one.
The visitors eventually succeeded to get a great and unexpected win, largely obtained in the first half, when Michal Tokar scored a double in 18' and 28'. The first goal came after a free kick from the right side, executed by Kuhajdik, a defender saved from the goal line but sent the ball to Tokar, who scored with a shot from the edge of the box: 0-1. Ten minutes after, the visitors launched a fast break on the left, Kisel'a passing to Tokar, who outran his opponent and shot from almost the same position to score the second goal, to the disappointment of the home crowd, who expected more from their goalkeeper and their defense. The home side resumed the attacks, but the visitors defensive line stood.
MFK Snina came back with one goal by Dusan Janko from a penalty at the beginning of the second half (47') given for handball inside the box by Zapotocky who also received a yellow card. Nevertheless, the home side did not manage more than that and the match ended with an unexpected but fully deserved win for 1. FK Svidnik.
