First defeat for 1. FK Svidník: 2-1 away at MFK Slovan Giraltovce in the fifth round of the Slovak 3. Liga - East

Sunday, the 18th of August 2019, 16:00 local time (14:00 UTC), MFK Slovan Stadium, Giraltovce, Slovakia, the fifth round of the Slovak 3. Liga - East Group.
The first defeat in this season for 1. FK Svidník did not come away at Spisská Nova Ves or at Snina, where they were outsiders, but at Giraltovce. Slovan Giraltovce, last classified and without a single point before this match, succeeded in winning this game and to climb out of the relegation zone.
The home side started very well and Svidník goalkeeper Mario Mulík had to make a foul inside the area on Soltys after a rather short pass from Bialončík. Fortunately for the visitors, Patrik Kuriplach was unable to transform the penalty (8'), as goalkeeper Mulík successfully defended both the first shot and the second one, so the score remained 0-0 at the moment. The visitors seemed to have the better goal chances. However, Slovan Giraltovce managed to score twice within two minutes. First by means of the team captain Martin Soltys, with a header, after an excellent cross from the right side: 1-0 (30'). In the next minute, Jakub Bavol'ár's  shot from outside the area was deflected by a defender, the ball took a curious direction and ended up in the net: 2-0 (31').
This result was clearly not what the visitors wanted, so they tried to come back in the game, especially during the second half. Eventually, the Russian newcomer, Maksim Maslov, netted the ball with a slightly deflected long-range shot: 2-1 (63'). Nevertheless, despite several opportunities, the score did not change until the end of the game.
Slovan Giraltovce: Fabini - Matta, Albisu, Jurč, Tóth, Sivák (Chovanec 90'), Soltys, Bavol'ár, Gdovin (A. Tkáč 64'), Tomko, Kuriplach (Michalko 77'). Head coach: L'ubomír Puhák.
1. FK Svidník: Mulík - Ducár, Zapotocký, Bialončík, Kisel'a - Tokar, Maslov, Kuhajdík, Kosč (Cekan 66') - Elias (Cabala 46') - L. Hricov (Pil'ar). Head coach: Tomás Elias (who actually played); assistant coach: Róbert Petrus.
Referee: Lukás Dzivjak.
Yellow cards: Kuriplach 8', A. Tkáč 89' - Mulík 7', Ducár 81', Bialončík 88'.
In the other matches of the round, FK Humenne won 3-2 the derby against 1. FC Tatran Presov, while MFK Vranov and Odeva Lipany obtained important wins away, consolidating their position on top of the table. One should also notice the surprising away wins for the newly-promoted Mladost Kalsa and Poprad B at Spisska Nova Ves and Stropkov.
For 1. FK Svidník, this week schedules two games at home. First, on Wednesday evening, they will play the local derby against Tesla Stropkov, a match postponed from round 2. Then, on Sunday afternoon, they will meet TJ FK Vel'ke Revistia. Given the two recent unsatisfactory results, it is very important for them to win these matches.
